Millom Community Church
Core Values

To Build a Contemporary Community Church in which we are the heartbeat of the community - where God is Famous

Contemporary
We want to be a place and a people that are relevant to the world and the community in which we live. 1 Chron 12:32

Heartbeat
A healthy heartbeat means that we have a healthy heart. The Bible says that the heart is the wellspring of life. As a Community church we want to be the heartbeat of the Community. A church filled with life. Touching the lives of young and old in our town, both those who are hurting, depressed, frustrated and confused and those who are feeling good about the life they already have - showing them love and acceptance help, hope and forgiveness, guidance and encouragement and an even fuller life in Jesus Christ. I believe God has made us and placed us in this community to work in it and to take care of it.
Gen 2:15

Community
We want to be a people where all believers, by their Godly influence and actions, interact with and transform the society were they have been placed. People are the greatest asset that God has to influence other people to follow him. Acts17:26

Church
We want to be a body of people where each member has a sense of belonging, becomes a disciple of Jesus Christ, is released into their God given gifts and pointed towards their destiny. It is our desire, as the leadership of this church, that people at different levels of spiritual development find their place in the body of Christ. We want to see people come into maturity in their walk with God and to be released, with proper spiritual and pastoral guidance, to use their gifts and talents to serve God in the local church. Eph 4 :11-13

Where God is famous
We want to be a place where people, both within and outside the church, can see, hear and experience what great things God is doing. To achieve this we need to have an outward focus to reach those without faith, both within the community and across the nations. It is our vision, prayer and heart’s desire that God would be made famous and that we can be a heartbeat for this community, where people will come to find real life in our time and in our generation and we are committed to doing all we can to enable this to be a reality in Millom and beyond. Hab 3:1-3.

Core Values

Core values are what we hold as important key areas of ministry here at MCC. They are the hallmarks of our church and should always have an over-riding priority in our activities.

MCC is committed to the following areas of Christian Ministry:

Worship
For a long time we have fondly thought of worship as songs we sing in a Sunday service. Worship demands more of us; it is a lifestyle that reflects God’s heart and love. The most mundane tasks we do can be worship to God when we do it in an attitude of service for him. Worship is more than something we do, it is the motivation (an attitude) that colours our thoughts and directs our actions.

Service
We all have something we love doing, and can do well. As we use our gifts and skills to help the local church grow and develop, this is our service. The model of church in the New Testament is of a body of people who are willing to use their gifts to serve each other and build community.

Community
More than just a quick hello after a meeting with a cup of tea in your hand and a list of people to see, fellowship takes time and energy and is about building relationship with our fellow brothers and sisters. It is the basis on which church is formed and people are cared for. We can do nothing on our own for very long.

Outreach
God has asked us to do one simple thing: tell people how he has changed our lives and that he can change theirs. He needs us to get excited about sharing this life with our neighbours; most people don’t realise the incredible benefits of knowing Jesus, it’s up to us to show them.

Maturity
The Christian life is a constant journey of growth. We need to learn as we grow; to discuss and question ideas and Scriptures. This is a part of discipleship. It gives us a firm foundation on which we can build faith so that when we are tested we are sure of who we are in God. Accountability, biblical teaching and the ability to think are essential!
